Anita Moser serves as Senior Scientist and Managing Director of the doctoral program "Cultures in Transition" at the Interuniversity Institution for Science and Art in Salzburg. She is affiliated with the University of Salzburg (Paris Lodron University) through her position in the Contemporary Art and Cultural Production program area. Additionally, Moser works as a lecturer at the University of Innsbruck and in adult education contexts, while also contributing to panel discussions, cultural initiatives, and various committees and juries across Austria's cultural sector.
Her research interests focus on art and cultural work in migrant societies, inequalities in the cultural sector, cultural labor markets, and critical cultural management. Moser examines social sustainability and diversity in cultural institutions, governance and cultural policy frameworks, independent and regional cultural work, and the intersection of postcolonial criticism with gender studies. Her work consistently addresses structural barriers within cultural institutions and advocates for more equitable cultural practices.
Moser's recent publications reveal a strong trend toward examining diversity, inclusion, and equity within cultural institutions. Her scholarship analyzes working conditions for artists, particularly in Salzburg, and investigates how cultural policies can better support marginalized communities. She frequently employs intersectional approaches to examine how race, gender, migration status, and economic position intersect within cultural production and participation.
