Anita Anantharam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Religion at the University of Florida. She holds a BA from Columbia University, a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Hough Graduate School of Business, University of Florida. Her research focuses on nationalism, women’s leadership, sustainable agriculture, and transnational politics, with a particular emphasis on gender, citizenship, and social entrepreneurship. She has received awards from USAID-MEAS, J. William Fulbright, and the US Department of Education for her teaching and research.
Her academic background includes interdisciplinary studies in religion, business, and social sciences. She advises the US Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program and actively supports women’s professional development through community-building initiatives.
Her research publications explore themes such as gender identity, transnational servitude, and cultural hybridity, often using case studies from South Asia.
