Anima Adjepong is Associate Professor and Department Head in Women's Studies at the University of Cincinnati. She holds an A.B. in Comparative Literature from Princeton University (2009), an M.A. (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) in Sociology from University of Texas at Austin.
Her research specializes in U.S. History and African American History with emphases on black women's activist/intellectual history, comparative political activism (U.S./South Africa), 20th century popular culture, American South local histories, South African women's history, and oral histories. She is currently researching a biographical oral history of South African activist Elizabeth Mafeking.
Her publications explore transnational feminist networks, race/gender perceptions across cultures, and civil rights activism. Key themes include international solidarity-building and comparative resistance strategies in racial justice movements.
