Anibal Bellomio serves as a Lecturer at Yale University's School of Architecture, teaching the core course Systems Integration and Development in Design continuously from Spring 2015 through Spring 2024. As a licensed architect (AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C) and Associate Principal at Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, he bridges professional practice with academic instruction in architectural technology and building systems.
His educational background includes degrees from the University of Tucumán and the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Professional projects he has contributed to include The Landmark Tower in Abu Dhabi, Torre de Cristal in Madrid, and Menara Petronas 3 in Kuala Lumpur.
Bellomio's research focuses on the integration of structural, environmental, and envelope systems in building design. He emphasizes how technical systems interact to form cohesive architectural entities, with particular interest in BIM implementation, sustainable design methodologies, and the relationship between constructive processes and conceptual design origins. His teaching philosophy centers on advancing technical systems to reinforce architectural concepts rather than merely fulfilling performance requirements.
Throughout his tenure at Yale, Bellomio has co-instructed the Systems Integration course alongside faculty including Martin Finio, Robert Haughney, and John D. Jacobson. The course requires detailed technical drawings, BIM software proficiency, and systematic development of structural form, environmental systems, egress, and accessibility solutions based on earlier studio work.
As a practitioner, Bellomio maintains active involvement in major international architectural projects while contributing to academic discourse. His professional perspective informs his teaching approach, where he encourages students to find beauty in skillfully designed placemaking that serves human needs. His favorite building, the Ford Foundation Building in New York City by Kevin Roche, exemplifies his appreciation for integrated design solutions.
