Dr. Ania Kotarba is a Lecturer and Programme Director in Museum and Curatorial Studies at the University of Adelaide's School of Humanities. She holds a DPhil in Maritime and Landscape Archaeology from the University of Oxford, focusing on ancient Egyptian trade ports. Her research emphasizes climate change impacts on cultural heritage, risk preparedness, and community archaeology. She has collaborated with Indigenous communities in Australia (Channel Country, Northern Arnhem Land, Torres Strait Islands) to document heritage sites vulnerable to environmental threats. Notably, she directed a documentary with Yolngu-speaking Marthakal Rangers in Arnhem Land. She is an active member of ICOMOS Australia's Risk Preparedness committee and has worked internationally with UNESCO affiliates like ICCROM and ATHAR. Professional roles include heritage consultancy for organizations such as Qatar Museum Authority and leadership in World Bank expert panels.
