Dr. Angus Holford is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Essex’s Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER). His work focuses on educational attainment disparities, labour market outcomes, and evidence-based policy design. He serves on the UK Government’s Evaluation and Trials Advice Panel and is a Research Affiliate with IZA. Holford’s recent research examines Universal Free School Meal (UFSM) policies’ impacts on child obesity and academic performance, as well as international student effects in universities. He teaches courses on impact evaluation and data analysis methods, including the MSc module EC969. Holford co-supervises PhD students and advises on randomized control trials (RCTs) for policy evaluation. His media engagements highlight issues like special school meal uptake and policy interventions. Key collaborations include work with the Behavioural Insights Team and contributions to UK policy debates through platforms like UK in a Changing Europe.
