Associate Professor Angelos Pikrakis is a faculty member of the Department of Informatics at the University of Piraeus and an affiliate member of the Institute of Speech Processing (ISPP). His academic career spans signal processing with emphasis on audio-speech analysis.
Dr. Pikrakis earned his Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras (1993) and PhD in Informatics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2002). His scholarly work focuses on sound analysis using machine learning algorithms, Hidden Markov models, Bayesian architectures, and sequence matching methods.
His research output includes two internationally recognized books and over 50 publications in scientific journals and conferences, accumulating more than 1,150 citations with an h-index of 16 (Google Scholar). He serves on the editorial board of the EURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing since 2008 and has contributed for over ten years as co-organizer and reviewer for international conferences.

Dr. Pikrakis has participated in research projects funded by the General Secretariat for Scientific and Technological Research and the EU. He currently supervises three doctoral theses in related fields and maintains active involvement in the academic community through conference organization and peer review activities.
