Angela Ujunwa is a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the Teesside University International Business School (TUIBS). She holds a PhD in Banking and Finance from the University of Nigeria (2016) and an MSc in Financial Technology (FinTech) from the University of Salford (2023). With over a decade of academic experience, she previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and a lecturer at the Elizabeth School of London, Manchester Campus. Her research focuses on Corporate Reporting, Banking and Finance, Corporate Governance, ESG disclosures, and Financial Technology innovations.

Research Interests: Angela’s work explores the intersection of financial systems and sustainability. Key areas include the role of ESG disclosures in corporate governance, the impact of financial innovation (e.g., FinTech) on traditional banking models, and the dynamics of market-based vs. bank-based financial structures in developing economies. Her recent studies analyze how climate change and armed conflict exacerbate socioeconomic vulnerabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Publications: Angela’s recent work examines topics such as the MENA region’s financial resilience amid risk and uncertainty, inflation targeting in ECOWAS, and the effects of trade shocks on inequality. Her research bridges macroeconomic theory with real-world policy challenges in Africa.
Advising & Grants: Angela supervises PhD candidates exploring quantitative and qualitative research methodologies aligned with her expertise. She actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly on projects addressing regional economic integration and climate resilience.
