Angela Feechan

Angela Feechan is an Associate Professor at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot-Watt University. She also holds a Visiting Professor position at University College Dublin since October 2022. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of plant-fungal interactions, particularly the fungal pathogens Zymoseptoria tritici, Ramularia collo-cygni, and Blumeria graminis affecting cereal crops. Her work aims to develop strategies for improved crop protection through understanding host-pathogen interactions.

Her research interests include fungal effector proteins, disease resistance mechanisms in wheat, and the application of molecular pathology to agricultural sustainability. She has contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed publications and actively participates in editorial roles for journals like New Phytologist and European Journal of Plant Pathology.

Dr. Feechan has served as an external examiner for multiple PhD theses, including recent reviews on barley immunity and nitrogen effects on oat crops. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to food security and sustainable agriculture.
