Angela Duckworth is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. She serves as a Network Leader for the Identity and Personality (IP) network and is affiliated with the Early Childhood Interventions (ECI) network.

Dr. Duckworth's research focuses on individual differences that predict achievement, with particular emphasis on self-control (the ability to regulate emotions, thoughts, and feelings in service of valued goals) and grit (perseverance and sustained interest in long-term goals). She employs a multimethod, multisource approach to trait assessment, utilizing self-report, informant report, and behavioral measures. Her work bridges personality psychology and economics, exploring which individual differences are most important to socioeconomic success. Recent research includes studies on temperament in the classroom and self-control.
Dr. Duckworth is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research in human capital and has delivered presentations on grit and perseverance in developmental psychology, including her notable work 'Grit and Perseverance in Developmental Psychology'.
