Dr. Angela Ahlgren is a Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at Bowling Green State University’s College of Arts and Sciences. She serves as Graduate Coordinator for MA and PhD programs in Theatre and is affiliated with American Culture Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her research spans Asian American theatre, queer performance theory, critical dance studies, and gender/labor dynamics in theatre history.

- BA in Theater Arts and English, Augsburg College (1998)
Her publications explore intersections of race, gender, and cultural politics in performance, including analyses of Balanchine’s Bugaku and Alwin Nikolais’ choreography. She has authored a book on Taiko drumming’s role in Asian American cultural identity and contributed chapters on queer Taiko duets and San Jose Taiko’s activism. Her work bridges theatre history, dance studies, and interdisciplinary cultural critique.
