Angel Vicario Merino is a Professor at the Faculty of Nursing and Education at Camilo José Cela University since 2018. He holds a PhD in Nursing (2017) and multiple master's degrees including Health Policy, International Public Health, and Nursing Services Management. His professional career spans over 15 years in international health cooperation, emergency response, and hospital administration with organizations like the Spanish Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and MSF. He has served as Country Head for the Spanish Red Cross in Algeria/Sahrawi camps and led disaster response efforts in countries like the Philippines, Mozambique, and Libya.
Academically, he teaches in Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Disaster Management programs. His research focuses on bioethics, nursing leadership, disaster preparedness, and chronic disease management. He has over 12 peer-reviewed publications and a book chapter on emergency medical standards. His 2016 award-winning presentation at the Córdoba Bioethics Congress highlighted leadership's ethical impact in healthcare units.
