Andy Aguirre is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Co-Director of the DFCI Center for RAS Therapeutics. He leads the Aguirre Lab for Pancreatic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, focusing on genomics, functional genetic screening, and translational oncology to improve pancreatic cancer treatments. His work spans basic science to clinical trials, with a team of bench scientists, computational biologists, and clinicians.
Recent achievements include the 2024 Cancer Discovery paper on KRAS inhibition resistance mechanisms and his 2024 promotion to Associate Professor. The lab actively collaborates across disciplines, exemplified by presentations at AACR meetings and partnerships with institutions like Seoul National University. Notable lab milestones include student successes (e.g., Dan Gui’s Lubin Scholarship) and transitions to medical schools or industry roles (e.g., Ziyue to NextRNA Therapeutics).
Research interests integrate pancreatic cancer biology, drug discovery, and interdisciplinary approaches to RAS-driven malignancies. Lab members frequently present at conferences, and findings are highlighted in journals like Cancer Discovery and NCI’s Cancer Currents Blog. Andy also mentors students through pre-qualifying exams and clinical training programs.
The lab’s translational focus aims to bridge laboratory discoveries with clinical applications, including new therapeutic strategies and diagnostic methods. Collaborations span academic and industrial partners to accelerate patient care advancements.
