Dr. Andrés Romero, who earned his Ph.D. in Anthropology from Wayne State University in 2022, is currently an Assistant Professor at Rollins College. He contributes to interdisciplinary programs such as Global Health and Latin American and Caribbean Studies, reflecting his diverse expertise in cultural and medical anthropology. His career includes visiting professorships and a pre-doctoral fellowship, highlighting his adaptability across academic and applied settings.
Dr. Romero’s research and teaching focus on interdisciplinary approaches, combining visual culture, literary ethnography, and the anthropology of violence. He emphasizes community-oriented learning, treating classrooms as collaborative field sites to address pressing global issues. His training at Wayne State involved extensive teaching and two years of ethnographic fieldwork, particularly with displaced communities in Colombia and state institutions.
