André Schulz is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences, University of Luxembourg. He leads the 'Brain-Body Interaction' research group and directs the Clinical Psychophysiology Laboratory (CLIPSLAB). He is also a member of the Faculty Council of FHSE and the Ethics Review Panel at the University of Luxembourg.
- Specializes in interoception, the psychobiology of stress, and mental disorders with physical symptoms
- Focuses on mental health in chronic conditions (e.g., gastrointestinal, respiratory, or cardiovascular disorders)
- Uses psychophysiological and neuroscientific research methods
His research spans endocrinology, neurosciences, and psychiatry, with projects addressing the interplay between bodily sensations and mental health, such as:
- Investigating interoception in medically unexplained symptoms (INMEDEX)
- Analyzing stress effects on interoceptive learning (INSTRESS)
- Comparing Long-COVID and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome pathophysiology (SUMCO)
- Exploring interoception across organ systems (INBODY)
He teaches courses in psychophysiology (BSc), health psychology (MSc), and doctoral programs, and supervises 9 active PhD students alongside 12 completed ones.
