André Elisabeth is a Full Professor of Computer Science and Chair of Multimedia Concepts and Applications at Augsburg University in Germany. She has held academic positions since 2001, serving as Managing Director of the Institute for Computer Science (2004-2006) and receiving multiple calls for professorships at prestigious institutions. Her research focuses on interactive multimodal systems, affective computing, and experimental learning environments with animated characters. She has been recognized with awards such as the Alcatel-Lucent Fellowship and Convivio Best Demo Award.
Elisabeth holds a PhD from Saarland University (1995) and has extensive international collaborations, including guest researcher stays at SRI International and UC Santa Cruz. She has organized major conferences like IVA 2007 and contributed editorially to journals like the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies. Her work includes leading EU-funded projects such as METABO (emotion recognition) and E-Circus (educational agents).
Elisabeth has supervised numerous PhD students and thesis projects, including winners of GALA Awards and innovation competitions. She actively participates in university governance roles like Women’s Representative and Erasmus Coordinator. Her research bridges computer science with cognitive systems, emphasizing human-centric interaction design.
