André Den Exter is an Associate Professor of Health Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands) and a Visiting Associate Professor at Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública (ENSP NOVA) in Portugal. His research focuses on access to health care, the role of international law in health systems, and patients' rights.

He has co-edited books on European health law with Maklu Press (2017) and Springer Verlag (2022), authored numerous articles in international law journals, and held a prestigious Jean Monnet Chair on Health Law in the European Union (2014-2020). Recent research explores intersections between climate change litigation, human rights, and health law, as well as issues like obstetric violence and informed consent. His work spans health policy, international health regulations, and reproductive rights.
