András Szigeti is a Professor at Linköping University, holding dual appointments in the Department of Philosophy and Applied Ethics (FTE) and the Department of Culture and Society (IKOS), both within the Faculty of Philosophy. His research primarily focuses on moral responsibility—particularly collective responsibility—and the philosophy of emotion, examining questions about group agency and the connection between emotions and values.
His research interests span contemporary moral philosophy, aesthetics, and the history of philosophy, with particular emphasis on how emotions function as justifiers and how groups can bear moral responsibility. Szigeti investigates whether certain collectives can act and be held accountable for their actions, while also exploring the relationship between emotional responses and evaluative judgments.
His publication record shows consistent scholarly output from 2013-2024, with recent work addressing heuristics in emotion theory, structural injustice remedies, and collective epistemic agency. The articles demonstrate strong interdisciplinary engagement across philosophy of mind, ethics, social philosophy, and cognitive science, with increasing focus on practical applications of theoretical frameworks to social justice issues.
Szigeti currently serves as deputy project manager for the "Gothenburg Responsibility Project" (2014-2024), funded by the Swedish Research Council and based at the University of Gothenburg. He is also a member of Lund University's research group on Metaphysics and Collectivity, focusing on the construction of collective and social entities.
His academic background includes a Ph.D. from Central European University (2008). The research environment at Linköping University where he works emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches and philosophical questions about science's role in society, providing a strong institutional framework for his work in philosophy and applied ethics.
