Andrzej Zarzycki is an Associate Professor at the NJ School of Architecture, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He holds an M.S. in Architecture and Urbanism from MIT (1994), a Master of Architecture from Gdańsk University of Technology (1992), and completed a visiting program at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1991). Dr. Zarzycki’s research focuses on integrating emerging technologies—such as BIM, augmented reality (AR), and AI—into architectural design and education. His work emphasizes smart building systems, digital design pedagogy, and computational tools for enhancing creativity and sustainability. He has been recognized with the 2019 NJIT Award for Excellence in Research and the 2015 CAADRIA Best Presentation Award.
His teaching spans design studios, BIM-driven curriculum development, and courses on AR and smart technologies. Recent research explores AI’s role in creative processes, photogrammetry in historic preservation, and the synergy of data analytics with building systems. He advocates for maintaining human agency in technology-mediated design while advancing interdisciplinary approaches to architectural education and practice.
Key contributions include over 35 publications on topics like smart building interfaces, parametric BIM, and the ethical implications of AI in design. His work bridges theory and practice, aiming to redefine architectural education through technology integration and innovative curricula.
