Andrew Whittaker

Andrew Whittaker is a SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He serves as Director of the Institute of Bridge Engineering and Interim Director of the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics. A registered Civil and Structural Engineer in California, his career spans structural, earthquake, and nuclear engineering, with a focus on seismic isolation and fluid-structure interaction.

Research Interests: Whittaker's work bridges earthquake engineering, nuclear reactor seismic design, blast/impact engineering, and performance-based engineering. His studies address seismic isolation systems, soil-structure interaction, and radiation effects on structural components.
