Professor Andrew Wade is a Professor of Hydrology at the University of Reading's Department of Geography and Environmental Science, part of the School of Archaeology, Geography and Environmental Science. With over 25 years of experience, he specializes in hydrological processes, water scarcity, pollution, and climate change impacts, particularly in mountain regions like the Peruvian Andes and Central Asia's Tien Shan. He has led projects with over £20M in funding, including the ACCESS and CROPP initiatives in Peru and studies on Atmospheric Rivers' flood impacts in the UK. His research integrates fieldwork, modelling (e.g., Bayesian networks, INCA/SimplyP models), and policy engagement, such as advising NERC and DEFRA.
Key areas include glacial hydrology, agricultural catchment management, and eutrophication solutions. He has authored over 90 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like nutrient dynamics, water quality sensors, and climate adaptation strategies. His work bridges science and policy, addressing sustainable water management in vulnerable regions.
