Dr. Andrew Shepherd is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in the Division of Psychology & Mental Health (L5). His research focuses on mental health within criminal justice contexts, including personality disorders, prison social care, and qualitative methods. He has contributed to studies on prisoner welfare, forensic psychiatry, and patient experience data analysis.
- Education: PhD in Psychology (2016), supervised by Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Dr. Martin Wan, and Dr. Michael Doyle.
- Awards: Duncan Macmillan Essay Prize (2018), Gill McGauley Prize (2018), and Gill McGauley Prize in Forensic Psychotherapy (2018).
Research Interests: Qualitative methodologies, personality disorders, forensic mental health, criminal justice system dynamics, and patient recovery processes. His work bridges clinical practice and policy, particularly in prison environments and community mental health settings.
