Dr. Andrew Scott is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western Carolina University. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of South Wales (formerly University of Glamorgan) and a BS in Software Engineering from the same institution. His research focuses on computer science education, particularly the visualization of programming concepts and mobile applications development. He has developed Progranimate, a visual programming environment to aid novice learners, and led projects like the Stormsurge Viewer and Archwillio mobile application. His teaching spans courses in software engineering, mobile development, and information security. Awards include the Best Poster Award (2010) and a British Archaeological Awards nomination (2014).
Education: PhD and BS in Computer Science/Software Engineering from University of South Wales. Teaching includes CS130, CS150/151, CS253, CS364, CS466/467, and capstone projects. Research collaborations involve developing educational tools and mobile apps for businesses. Supervised over 20 capstone teams since 2013. Active in outreach programs promoting computing to K-12 students.
