Andrew Parsons is a Lecturer in Geosciences at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Plymouth University. His research bridges subgrain-scale to plate-scale deformation processes in both marine and terrestrial geological settings, with a focus on mid-ocean ridge dynamics and continental tectonics.
- Key projects include deformation and magmatic studies of the Oman ophiolite and Atlantis Massif (Mid-Atlantic Ridge).
- Expertise: Fieldwork, petrography, structural geology, electron microscopy, EBSD, paleomagnetic analyses.
Research themes include:
- Multi-disciplinary geological record analysis
- Grain-scale deformation experiments
- Marine scientific drilling via IODP
He supervises postgraduate students and offers tailored PhD/ResM/MSc projects involving fieldwork and lab work.
