Andrew Newman is Professor of Economics at Boston University, a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), and a Fellow of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD). He holds a PhD from Harvard University and specializes in economic theory with applications to organizational economics and development. His pioneering work includes using contract theory to analyze income distribution and developing the concept of inequality traps.
His current research examines:
- Interactions between firm internal organization and market structures
- Impacts of affirmative action under contractual imperfections
- Social learning models driving organizational heterogeneity
