Dr. Andrew N. Liaropoulos is an Associate Professor at the University of Piraeus, Department of International and European Studies, specializing in international security, cybersecurity, and strategic studies. He holds a Master's from Aberystwyth University and a Doctorate from Swansea University. His research focuses on intelligence reform, hybrid threats, European security, and cyber warfare. He has served as Director of the Laboratory of Intelligence and Cybersecurity (2015-2021) and currently sits on the Scientific Board of the Observatory on Hybrid Threats under Greece's Ministry of Digital Governance.
He has held visiting scholar positions at the Center for European and North Atlantic Affairs (Slovakia) and National Chengchi University (Taiwan). His editorial roles include membership on the boards of the Journal of Information Warfare and Journal of European and American Intelligence Studies. Key interests include the intersection of technology and conflict, digital sovereignty, and strategic narratives in information warfare.
His work spans geopolitical analyses of cyber threats, European defense strategy, and the evolving digital landscape's impact on global security. Recent contributions address AI in warfare, social media's role in conflict, and EU digital autonomy. His research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical policy implications, emphasizing human-centric cybersecurity approaches and institutional reform.
