Dr. Andrew Johnson is a Research Professor in Additive Protective Technologies at Loughborough University's School of Design & Creative Arts. His work focuses on additive manufacturing (AM) applications in protective technologies, biodegradable materials, and textile engineering. He leads research groups including Digital Design and Fabrication, Textiles, and Environmental Ergonomics.
Research interests encompass 3D-printed sensors, multi-material AM processes, biodegradable implants, and body armor design. Notably, he explores friction and comfort dynamics in textile interactions with the human body, alongside optimizing manufacturing parameters for materials like polycarbonate and polylactic acid (PLA).
