Dr. Andrew Hulton is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Surrey, where he has been since 2016. He holds dual accreditation as a BASES Accredited Sports Scientist for Scientific Support (Physiology) and a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. Prior to his academic role, he worked as a Sports Science Officer and later transitioned to applied roles, including nutritional consultancy with Premiership football clubs and Physical Performance Coach for the English Football Association's women's U19/U20 squads, supporting them in major tournaments.
His educational background includes a Master's degree in Sport Physiology (2004, Liverpool John Moores University) and a PhD focused on pre-exercise nutritional strategies for intermittent exercise. His research emphasizes practical applications of training and nutritional interventions to enhance sports performance, with current projects exploring caffeine's effects on performance across various sports. His work bridges academic research and real-world athlete support, reflecting his dual expertise in physiology, nutrition, and applied sports science.
