Andrew H. Miller, MD, is the William P. Timmie Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. He leads the Emory Mind Body Program and is a member of Winship Cancer Institute’s Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program. His work focuses on brain-immune interactions, cytokine effects on mood disorders, and immunotherapeutic strategies for depression.
Education: MD from Medical College of Georgia (1981), followed by residency and fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.
Research interests include inflammation’s role in depression, cytokine signaling pathways, and neurocircuits regulating motivation. He pioneered clinical trials of cytokine antagonists for depression and has authored over 300 publications. Awards include the Curt Richter Award, Norman Cousins Award, and Emory’s top NIH grant recognition (top 1% proposal ranking).
Grants and mentoring: Recognized for NIH grant success and mentorship. Leads teams in behavioral immunology and psychosocial oncology at Emory’s Brain Health Center.
