Andrew Fisher is a Senior Lecturer in Anatomy at the University of Chester's Chester Medical School, part of the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society. With over 15 years in higher education, he specializes in musculoskeletal biology, focusing on molecular mechanisms of muscle atrophy and clinical applications in foot/ankle biomechanics. His research includes collaborations with Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to discoveries like the novel spring ligament articular facet, impacting flat-foot surgery.
Education: 1st class BSc in Anatomy and Human Biology (Liverpool, 2003-2006), MRes with distinction (Liverpool, 2006-2007), PhD in integrative mammalian biology (Liverpool, 2013).
Research Interests: Musculoskeletal biology, anatomical research, clinical orthopedics, foot/ankle surgery, muscle atrophy, and biomechanics. His work bridges basic science and clinical practice, with publications in Foot & Ankle Orthopaedics, Journal of Anatomy, and others.
Teaching: Uses cadaveric dissection, 3D software, and clinical imaging. Involves curriculum development for medical and healthcare programs, including CPD for clinical professionals.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with Aintree University Hospital on clinical anatomy projects. Active in anatomy education innovation through virtual tools and anatomical resource development.
