Andrew Farr

Dr. Andrew Farr is a Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön, Germany. He leads the Research Group for Microbial Genetics within the Department of Microbial Population Biology, focusing on mutational mechanisms and their role in evolutionary innovation.

Research Interests:

• Exploring mutational changes in regulatory DNA regions, particularly promoters
• Investigating horizontal gene transfer dynamics in pathogenic bacteria
• Studying adaptive evolution through gene modifications and genetic innovation pathways
• Addressing antibiotic resistance challenges through evolutionary insights
