Andrew Elby is a Full Professor at the University of Maryland, College Park's Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Physics from UC Berkeley and transitioned from physics teaching and research to science education. His work focuses on epistemology in STEM, particularly student and teacher epistemologies, physics and engineering education, and teacher professional development.

Elby's research emphasizes the interplay between epistemology, identity, and emotions in STEM learning.
