معرفی
Dr Andrew Edwards is a Senior Research Fellow at Charles Darwin University's Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods, within the Faculty of Science and Technology. He specializes in spatial science, fire ecology, and satellite-based vegetation analysis. His work focuses on optimizing fire management strategies in Australian savannas, integrating Indigenous knowledge and advanced technology to reduce emissions and preserve ecosystems.
Education: Dr Edwards holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Spatial Science from Charles Darwin University (2011), supervised by Prof. Lindsay Hutley and Dr Simon Maier.
Research Interests: His research spans fire metrics, habitat mapping, carbon management, and the application of remote sensing technologies. He collaborates with Indigenous communities and organizations like Kakadu National Park to develop sustainable fire management practices.
Articles: His recent publications emphasize fire season dynamics, environmental smoke impacts, and carbon offset mechanisms. Key themes include climate policy, ecological restoration, and the integration of Indigenous practices with modern science.
Grants & Advising: Edwards leads major projects such as the Rainmaker Start-Up grants (2020-2022) and the Arnhem Land Fire Abatement mapping (2023-2026). He supervises postgraduate researchers in environmental science and disaster management.
Labs/Teams: He is part of the Research Institute for Environment and Livelihoods, collaborating on climate change adaptation and natural hazard mitigation initiatives.
