Dr. Andrew Downs serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering at Benedictine College, with his office located in Westerman Hall 109.
His academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (2008)
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (2010)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University (2021)
Dr. Downs' research focuses on wave phenomena across electromagnetic and elastic domains, with specific expertise in reconfigurable and ultra-wideband antennas, sensor design, and pedagogical innovation in engineering education. His doctoral work at Iowa State advanced nondestructive testing through improved multi-mode dispersion compensation for ultrasonic guided waves. Prior to academia, he gained industry experience as a nuclear engineer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and project engineer at Interstates Control Systems.
