Andrew Diederich, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in mood disorders and suicide prevention, with a focus on child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Diederich joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2010 after completing his medical degree, residency in general psychiatry, and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Among his roles, he serves as the Medical Director of Inpatient Services for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Children’s Health. He actively participates in professional committees, including the State Hospital Child and Adolescent Services Workgroup for Texas HHS/State Hospital System and multiple committees within UT Southwestern’s Department of Psychiatry. He also represents the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
His academic contributions include co-authoring the book Depression and delivering numerous invited lectures, alongside publishing academic articles. His research emphasizes clinical practice and prevention strategies in psychiatric care.
