Professor Andrew D. Whitfield serves as Professor of Music and Coordinator of Opera at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he directs the opera program and teaches applied voice across all undergraduate levels.

Professor Whitfield's artistic practice centers on Opera, Vocal Performance, and Voice Pedagogy, with significant contributions to Chamber Music and Art Song repertoire. His performance career spans major regional opera companies including Des Moines Metro Opera and Portland Opera Works, plus orchestral collaborations with Dubuque Symphony and Luther College Symphony Orchestra. He premiered Mohammed Fairouz's Anything Can Happen in Chicago and regularly performs Schubert's Winterreise internationally.
He founded the International Music Festival of the Adriatic (2013-2023) in Duino, Italy, establishing a significant platform for cross-cultural artistic exchange. His recording of Brooke Joyce's Three Iowa Ballads (Innova label) received critical acclaim, and he maintains an active YouTube channel showcasing performance excerpts.
