Andrew Civitello

Andrew Civitello is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine – Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine and a key clinical leader at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, where he serves as Medical Director of the Heart Transplant Program and Co-Director of the Advanced Heart Failure Center of Excellence. He also directs the Advanced Heart Failure Fellowship program, contributing significantly to training the next generation of specialists in this field.

His primary research and clinical interests include advanced heart failure, heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support (including LVADs and ECMO), and novel therapies for heart failure. He has extensive expertise in interventional cardiology and manages complex patients across the spectrum of heart failure severity.

Dr. Civitello’s recent publications reflect a strong focus on outcomes in mechanical circulatory support, transplant policy, multidisciplinary care (especially cardiorenal interactions), and innovations in training. His work often involves collaborative, multi-institutional research with implications for clinical guidelines and patient management strategies.
