Dr. Andrew Carroll is a Reader (Education) in Education at Brunel University London's College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences, where he joined the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) team in 2018. He holds leadership roles as Secondary Science PGCE Course Lead and Hillingdon SCITT Programme Lead. His academic qualifications include a BSc in Biology, PhD in Biology, and PGCE in Secondary Science (Biology).
Research Focus: Carroll specializes in science education reform with emphasis on pedagogical frameworks, equity issues, and identity formation. His work examines metaphor and teleology in curriculum design, science capital during educational transitions, and culturally responsive teaching strategies for underrepresented groups. Current investigations address moral education frameworks and STEM identity development in adolescent learners.

Doctoral Supervision & Grants: Actively mentors PhD candidates researching: (1) Moral education and community relations, (2) ITE's role in supporting male African-Caribbean students, (3) Science capital at KS2/3 transition, and (4) Pupil science identity perception. Secured Heathrow Community Trust funding for large-scale analysis of community organizations across nine boroughs.
