معرفی
Dr Andrew Carr is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography and Admissions Tutor for Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Leicester's School of Geography, Geology and the Environment. He holds a BSc (2000) and PhD (2004) in Physical Geography from the University of Sheffield, with postdoctoral research (2004-2006) on coastal dune systems and glacial-interglacial landscape evolution. His research focuses on arid environments, environmental change, geochronology (particularly luminescence dating), and southern African paleoenvironments. He directs the University's Luminescence Dating facility.
Key research areas include Pleistocene vertebrate ichnology, coastal and dryland landscape dynamics, soil organic geochemistry, and archaeological geoscience. His work spans southern Africa's coastal records, the Mojave Desert, and Kyrgyzstan's tectonic zones. Collaborative projects address climate-vegetation interactions, monsoon variability, and anthropogenic impacts on wetland ecotones. His expertise bridges geology, ecology, and archaeology, with applications to geoheritage conservation and paleohydrology.
Publications emphasize Quaternary environmental reconstructions using luminescence dating, biomarkers, and multi-proxy approaches. Recent work highlights African coastal paleoenvironments, megafauna trackways, and the role of tropical forcing in Holocene climate systems. Teaching integrates field-based geoscience methodologies and environmental science pedagogy.
