معرفی
Andrew Blight is a Lecturer at the School of Biology, University of St Andrews, affiliated with the Scottish Oceans Institute and Sediment Ecology Research Group. He contributes to marine ecology research aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
- Current affiliation: School of Biology, University of St Andrews
- Research networks: Marine Alliance for Science & Technology Scotland
- Collaborative projects: BLUE-coast (NERC-funded 2016-2021)
His research focuses on sediment ecology, microbial communities, and coastal dynamics, with emphasis on biological-physical interactions. Key themes include:
- Ecosystem engineering by infaunal organisms
- Microphytobenthos responses to disturbance
- Impacts of pollutants (herbicides, nanoparticles) on marine biofilms
- Coastal sediment stability under climate change
Recent publications highlight integrated modeling approaches and experimental analysis of coastal processes. His work frequently addresses biofilm mechanics and their role in sediment stabilization/destabilization under wave action.
Outreach activities include participation in the Nucleus STEM guest lecture program (2019). He collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across biology, environmental science, and coastal engineering disciplines.
