Andrew Best-Dunkley is Professor of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki, and a PhD candidate at Aalto University's Department of Media. His international artistic practice spans sculpture, performance, media, bio-art, and participatory installations. As co-founder of Espoo Kunsthalle and Imagining Godzilla residency network, he promotes critically engaged art in suburban areas and artistic investigations of Baltic Sea environmental challenges.
His research explores how interactive media technologies enable social empowerment, particularly for disabled performers. Key projects include RE/F/r.ACE (participatory urban media art) and T/Act (custom interfaces for creative expression). Collaborative works with Merja Puustinen create physically engaging installations that challenge norms of public space and visibility.
