Andrew Barnes

Andrew Barnes is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is affiliated with the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain, Clinical Behavioral Neuroscience division, Center for Spirituality and Healing, Center for Neurobehavioral Development, Institute of Child Development, and Institute for Translational Research in Children's Mental Health. His clinical role includes directing the MN LEND program, which focuses on neurodevelopmental disabilities leadership education.

Barnes' research centers on adverse childhood experiences, mental health disparities, and behavioral health interventions for vulnerable populations including homeless youth and children with incarcerated parents. Recent publications highlight partnerships with telehealth collaboratories, school-based sleep interventions, and mixed-methods analyses of healthcare provider perspectives. His projects often intersect with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to poverty reduction and mental health equity.
