His clinical practice focuses on general surgery in Brandon, Manitoba, with affiliations spanning surgical education and hands-on clinical training.
Dr. Ahweng earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from St. George’s School of Medicine in 2006. His surgical training was completed at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, NY, followed by locum work in Northern Manitoba General Surgery before establishing his current practice in Brandon.
His research and teaching interests emphasize practical surgical education, with core focus areas including operative technique development, patient-centered surgical encounters, and OR procedural training. Dr. Ahweng’s pedagogical approach centers on immersive hands-on instruction combined with surgical principles discussion, directly integrating clinical practice with academic supervision. He actively accepts Master’s students for clinical mentorship within surgical training programs.
Dr. Ahweng maintains a dedicated clinical-academic workflow between his surgical practice at 1711 Kirkcaldy Drive, Brandon, and teaching responsibilities at the University of Manitoba. His absence of cross-appointments reflects his specialized focus within the Department of Surgery, where he contributes to surgical curriculum development and resident training without formal administrative roles.
