Andreu Juan Serra is an Associate Professor at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) while concurrently serving as Head of the Agricultural Service for the Balearic Islands government. He manages regional agricultural production, plant health programs, and agricultural research initiatives. As a representative of the Balearic Islands government, he sits on the Balearic Islands Compulsory Expropriation Jury.
He holds an Agricultural Engineering degree specializing in Crop Protection from the University of Lleida (1997).
His research focuses on sustainable agricultural systems with expertise in:
- Plant pathology and integrated disease management
- Crop protection strategies for horticultural systems
- Optimization of horticultural and ornamental production
- Agricultural experimentation methodologies
He coordinates applied research grants through the Ministry of Agriculture and has supervised bachelor's and master's theses at UIB. Current teaching includes:
- Basics of Crop Protection (Bachelor & Master levels)
- Management of Plant Health (Master level)
Serra is an active member of the research group 'Agronomic Engineering for Sustainability of Agrarian Systems' (EASSA) at UIB.
