Dr. Andreja Kutnar serves as Full Professor at the Department of Applied Natural Sciences within the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies at the University of Primorska. She holds leadership roles as Study Programme Coordinator for the Doctoral program in Renewable Materials for Healthy Built Environments and Deputy Coordinator for the Master's program in Sustainable Built Environment, while directing the EU-funded InnoRenew Centre of Excellence.
Her research centers on Wood Science and Environmental Impact Assessment, with specialized contributions to Timber Architecture, Wood Modification, and Sustainable Built Environment. This work integrates material science with ecological considerations through international collaborations spanning 8 countries. She has established significant research infrastructure via the InnoRenew CoE and COST Action ModWoodLife.
Professor Kutnar maintains active grant funding through the H2020 Teaming project and COST network, supporting interdisciplinary research in renewable materials. Her scholarly output includes 41 scientific papers, 27 conference proceedings, and a notable Springer-published book on sustainable timber architecture. She disseminates findings through 15 international invited lectures and keynote addresses at major conferences.
The InnoRenew Centre of Excellence functions as her primary research ecosystem, driving innovation in healthy built environments through cross-sectoral partnerships and EU-level research coordination.
