Andrei Shleifer is the John L. Loeb Professor of Economics at Harvard University. He holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from MIT. Since joining Harvard in 1991, he has focused on research in comparative corporate governance, law and finance, behavioral finance, and institutional economics. His work includes seven books, such as The Grabbing Hand and Inefficient Markets, and over a hundred articles. He is a fellow of prominent academic societies and has received the prestigious John Bates Clark Medal.
Shleifer's research explores systemic inefficiencies in markets, investor psychology, and institutional frameworks. His contributions have positioned him as the most cited economist globally, according to RePEc. He has held prior teaching roles at Princeton University and the Chicago Business School.
His academic leadership includes editorial roles at the Quarterly Journal of Economics. Awards and recognition highlight his impact on economics and finance disciplines.
