معرفی
Andrei Alexandrescu is a Professor in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Connecticut, specializing in Structural Biology and Biochemistry. His research focuses on high-resolution solution NMR studies of protein structure, folding, dynamics, and association, with particular emphasis on amyloids, viral proteins, zinc fingers, mitochondria, and metabolomics. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and completed postdoctoral training at Oxford University and Johns Hopkins University Medical Institutes.
His research interests include investigating protein structural dynamics using NMR spectroscopy, studying amyloidogenic proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, and exploring mitochondrial metabolism. Recent work has addressed the structural basis of zinc finger domains in transcription factors and the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in aging-related disorders.
Dr. Alexandrescu has authored numerous articles in journals like Protein Science, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Biomolecular NMR Assignments. His work bridges fundamental biophysical studies with applications in disease mechanisms and therapeutic design. His lab employs cutting-edge NMR methodologies to dissect protein behavior in both native and pathological states.
