Andreas Wichtmann

Professor Andreas Wichtmann teaches at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Environmental and Building Services Engineering. He has been teaching fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, power plant technology, and wind turbines since October 2007.

His educational background includes a Doctor of Engineering degree. His teaching spans both bachelor's and master's programs, covering subjects such as fluid dynamics, energy conversion machines, mechanics and construction, environmentally and resource-friendly energy industry, wind turbines, and innovative power plant technology.

Professor Wichtmann's research focuses on fluid dynamics, computational fluid mechanics (CFD), and wind energy systems. His development projects include fluid dynamic simulation of wind turbines and investigation of design methods for high-temperature behavior of power plant components. A significant research focus is on the conception, design, and testing of small wind turbines.

His research methodology emphasizes the interactions between fluid dynamic and structural mechanical behavior, utilizing both structural mechanical simulation (FEM) and fluid dynamic simulation (CFD).

Professor Wichtmann is affiliated with the Westphalian Energy Institute and holds memberships in:

• Arbeitskreis Windenergie im VGB (Wind energy working group at VGB)

He oversees the Fluid Machinery Laboratory at the university where practical work on power and working machines is conducted. His office is located in room B2.3.16 at Neidenburger Str. 43, 45897 Gelsenkirchen, with office hours by appointment.
