معرفی
Andreas Weisshaar is a Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Oregon State University's College of Engineering. He serves as Director of the Center for Design of Analog-Digital Integrated Circuits (CDADIC) and has made significant contributions to research in high-frequency electronics, electromagnetic modeling, and integrated circuit design. He previously served as a Program Director at the U.S. National Science Foundation from 2008 to 2011.
Education:
- Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.) in Electrical Engineering, University of Stuttgart, Germany (1987)
- M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oregon State University (1986)
- Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Oregon State University (1991)
His research focuses on electromagnetic modeling of microchip components and interconnects, integrated passive RF/microwave circuits, electronic packaging, and wireless communications and power transfer. These areas support the design of advanced microchips used in mobile devices and computing systems. His work bridges industry-relevant challenges with academic innovation, emphasizing high-frequency electronic systems.
Weisshaar's publications include the widely used textbook Transmission Lines and Wave Propagation (4th ed., CRC Press, 2001) and the review chapter "Transmission Lines" in the Handbook of Engineering Electromagnetics (Marcel Dekker, 2004). He has authored or co-authored numerous archival papers in top IEEE journals.
Scientific Awards:
- IEEE Fellow (2006) – for contributions to modeling of on-chip interconnects and integrated passive microwave components
- SRC TECHON Best Session Award (2013)
- OSU College of Engineering Alumni Professor Award (2003)
He has been actively involved in mentoring students and securing research funding, particularly through collaborations with the National Science Foundation. His professional service includes editorial roles in leading IEEE publications such as the Proceedings of the IEEE (since 2013) and IEEE Transactions on Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology (since 2011), as well as past associate editorships and guest editorships for multiple IEEE journals.
Andreas Weisshaar leads the Integrated Electronics research group at Oregon State University, contributing to the Center for Design of Analog-Digital Integrated Circuits (CDADIC), which is recognized as an innovation hub in analog-digital circuit design. His lab focuses on advancing high-frequency electronic systems through modeling, simulation, and experimental validation.
