معرفی
Andreas Schaefer is a Researcher in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. He leads the Surface Area & Porosity Laboratory and manages advanced instrumentation including X-ray fluorescence spectrometers and physisorption/chemisorption equipment. His research focuses on the structure-reactivity relationships of heterogeneous catalysts based on oxide materials, with expertise in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), synchrotron-based techniques, and vacuum technology.
Education: He earned a Dr. rer. nat. in Physical Chemistry and Surface Physics from the University of Bremen (2010). Postdoctoral positions included work at Uppsala University’s condensed matter physics division (until 2012), University of Bremen’s applied chemistry division (until 2015), and Lund University’s synchrotron radiation research division (until 2017) before joining Chalmers.
Research Interests: Investigates catalytic systems involving transition metal oxides, focusing on catalyst design, surface reactivity, and degradation mechanisms. Specializes in operando spectroscopic techniques to study dynamic processes such as oxidation states, adsorption phenomena, and catalytic deactivation. Key areas include CO oxidation over Rh/Pt catalysts, water effects on methane oxidation, and zeolite-catalyzed biofuel conversions.
Lab & Facilities: Oversees instrumentation critical for catalyst characterization, including advanced XPS and physisorption setups. Collaborates extensively with synchrotron facilities for in-depth material analysis.
